Two fire towers were located in the Saint-Elzéar area to monitor the forest and warn about fires in the village: one on the montagne de la Tour, the other at the top of the côte à Hector (Arsenault), Hector’s Hill in English. Simultaneously a playground for kids who loved climbing and workstation for the fire rangers, the two towers punctuated the landscape with their elongated silhouettes.
