While nobody in the French-speaking community can agree on its pronunciation 1 —Nez Ross, Néross, Nearest, Narrows… Everybody agrees that you have to climb a steep hill to get there. “You’ve really got to want to go for a swim!”2
“You had to be in shape to get there; your great-grandparents definitely weren’t [going to get there],”3 which is exactly what made it such an enticing place for young people who wanted to have fun away from the all-seeing eyes of their elders.
