The montagne d’Érables (Maple Mountain) stretches out behind all the surrounding villages, to such an extent that it is difficult to determine whether—according to the locals—there is one single maple mountain or several (whose boundaries vary depending on whom you ask).

In Saint-Godefroi, in the mid 20th century and even before then, the montagne d’Érables was known for its artisanal maple syrup production. All you had to do was “tap the maple and [hang] a bucket.”
